Bristol Classical Players (UK)

Repertoire

C. Orff Carmina Burana

The Bristol Classical Players orchestra was formed in 2008 to perform the nine Beethoven symphonies. Followed by the ‘Brahms Revealed’ series, the orchestra’s future seasons have continued to deliver great Classical masterpieces and occasional forays into later Romantic repertoire.
Having welcomed international soloists including patron, Sir Stephen Hough, Jennifer Pike and Nicola Benedetti for hugely successful concerts at St George’s Bristol, the orchestra also plays regularly in Cheltenham. The 10th anniversary season was marked in February 2019 with a hugely successful performance of Mahler’s Second Symphony in Bristol Cathedral, joined by the Bristol Phoenix Choir and Bristol Cabot Choir.
In September 2018 the orchestra had their first concert in Cheltenham’s Pittville Pump Room and were later joined by Jennifer Pike playing Elgar’s Violin Concerto. In 2022 they performed Verdi’s Requiem in Bristol Cathedral, celebrating Vaughan Williams’ 150th anniversary, alongside the conclusion of a cycle of Rachmaninov piano concertos.
In 2024 they revisited all nine Beethoven symphonies for their 15th anniversary year as well as performing for the Gustav Holst 150th Birthday concert at Cheltenham Town Hall.
