Bromley Youth Chamber Orchestra

Bromley Youth Chamber Orchestra

The Bromley Youth Chamber Orchestra (BYCO) was formed in 1977 and consists of talented young string players fromBromley Youth Music Trust (BYMT), the nationally renowned local music service and leading partner of the music education hub in Bromley, London.

The orchestra relishes the challenge of tackling the major works in the established canon and is also keen to discover new repertoire. It is not only the love of music that draws the players but also BYCO’s thriving social scene and the annual summer tour abroad. The musicians further enhance their development by playing in the Bromley Youth Symphony Orchestra and sometimes chamber music groups.

BYCO has regularly been awarded a place in the National Festival of Music for Youth, culminating in performances at the Royal Albert Hall. Its members are frequently awarded much-coveted places in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and, following success in the international youth music festival in Vienna, the ensemble was described by the chairman of the jury as “a perfect professional orchestra”.

It is both very exciting and a real privilege for BYCO to be visiting Wells. We do hope you enjoy the music!
